500th anniversary of the birth of Santa Teresa of Jesus

A historical-musicological Teresian conference with a capella songs featuring Sonnia Rivas-Caballero and Belén Yuste.

This historical-musicological Teresian conference collects the work of poetic-musical and historical research conducted by the mezzo-soprano, musicologist and pianist Sonnia L. Rivas-Caballero.

The poems are writen by St. Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross and Blessed Anne of Saint Bartholomew on Spanish popular music of the sixteenth century.

About Sonnia L. Rivas-Caballero

Sonnia L. Rivas-Caballero is a pianist, mezzosoprano and musicologist. She has sought in the popular repertoire of the XVI century, melodies that could agree with the poems of the great mystical figures. This poetic-musical work have been recorded on the following CDS: Coloquio de Amor (RTVE-Música, 2003), Del Corazón Enamorado (RTVE-Música, 2008) and Recital Teresiano (Ed. Espiritualidad, 2014), that have obtained numerous awards and prizes, including a Bravo Award in 2004 and a nomination in the Latin Grammy Awards.

In collaboration with Belen Yuste, she has written several books about Anne of St. Bartholomew, Teresa of Jesus and Maria Sklodowska-Curie.

About Belén Yuste

Belén Yuste is a writer, lecturer and specialist in Teresian writings. In collaboration with Sonnia L. Rivas-Caballero, she wrote several books, including Anne of Saint Bartholomew, companion and nurse of Therese d’Ávila (Ed. Edicel, Madrid, 2006), translated into French (Ed. Carmel, Toulouse, 2014); Teresa de Jesus, ella misma (Ed. Espiritualidad, Madrid, 2015) and Maria Sklodowska-Curie, una polaca in Paris (Ed. Rocaviva, Madrid, 2013). She is also producer, director and coordinator of cultural events.
