Amarradas at EU Short Film Festival 2025

The Spanish Short Film “Amarradas” by Carmen Córdoba González will be screened at the 12th edition of “European Union Short Film Festival” as part of the “Women on the Verge” program.
Hosted by the Arts Court Theatre of Ottawa, the 12th edition of the European Union Short Film Festival will take place on May 2 and 3. It will feature short dramas, documentaries, animations, and experimental films from over 23 EU member states.
The films are organized into three programs: Women on the Verge, The Places You’ll Go, and Band of Outsiders.

From the moment she enters the world, Daughter wants to explore and claim her freedom. From then on, Mother must educate her and maintain control. At 18, Daughter boards a plane, seeking a new life far from Mother. The bond that once united them weakens as new experiences arise. Mother must learn to step aside and let Daughter find her own path.
Carmen Córdoba
A computer engineer with over eight years of experience in the ICT sector, Carmen Córdoba made a significant career shift in January 2012 to pursue her true passion: storytelling through animation.
Her first animated short film, Roberto, which she wrote, directed, and produced, premiered in 2020. It has won more than 170 national and international awards and received over 360 selections, including 11 Oscar-qualifying festivals.
Her second animated short film, Amarradas, also written, directed, and produced by her, won the Movistar Plus+ award for Best Short Film Project at Weird 2021. It was recently released and selected for festivals such as Weird Market 2022 and Animario 2022.
She is currently directing the animated feature film Un Mundo Propio, now in development.
