Toronto International Flamenco Festival

Toronto International Flamenco Festival

7th Annual Flamenco Festival featuring 'La Lupi' and a week of performances, workshops and films.

See Susana Lupianez Pinto, known as 'La Lupi,' and her company perform in Toronto. Opening artists The Triana Project, and Rie Ishizuka with Renka combine international flavor with strong local presence. Workshops, films, and other activities during the week of the festival make this a unique calendar of events in the Toronto entertainment scene.

Enter into the world of Yo, Conmigo Misma (I, myself) danced by one of Spain's most illustrious flamenco performers, La Lupi, who will be joined onstage by guitarist Curro de Maria, singer El Londro, and other impressive performers of the La Lupi's company.

Arms describing the space, body arcing, feet expertly drumming out the rhythmic staccato patterns of flamenco, La Lupi dances from within a deep tradition, adding her own stamp of contemporary flourish and flair. Dancing alternately with power and delicacy, she expresses her experience through her artistry. If you are passionate about great dance, take advantage of this rare opportunity to join her in the world of Yo, Conmigo Misma and be part of the experience.

Opening for La Lupi are two exciting and highly regarded Toronto flamenco groups: The Triana Project, and Rie Ishizuka with her group Renka. These passionate and dedicated performers bring their talents to the stage in ways that will inspire audiences with their roots in the traditions of flamenco, combined with their excellence in opening up new pathways that imbue their work with modern flair.

In addition to the performances, students of flamenco dance, song, and guitar have access throughout the Festival week to all levels of workshops with La Lupi, Curro de Maria, and El Londro. Come learn with some of the greats of Spain! It will be an unforgettable experience.

The Festival also offers free introductory dance lessons, an artist’s talk, a free live performance, and flamenco-themed films.
