Winning Streak

Based on an incredible true story, Cortés's film is about the loyalty and the bonds of the members of a family when the head, played by Lluís Homar, calls his son (Daniel Brühl) to reunite them to perform the trick he has discovered to beat a casino —legally and capitalising on the roulette wheel's imperfections. With a witty script and very fine performances by the cast, Cortés manages to keep the tension high throughout this action-comedy-love film.

Eduard Cortés has received two Goya nominations as the director of La vida de nadie (2002) and as the screenwriter of Otros días vendrán (2005). Ingrid (2009) and The Pelayos (2011), winner of the Best Editing Award at the Malaga Festival, complete his filmography.
