IV Centenary of El Greco’s Death

A series of activities will commemorate the IV Centenary of the painter’s death.

In order to commemorate the fourth centenary of the death of El Greco, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with SPAIN arts & culture and the General Consulate of Greece in Montreal, has organized a series of activities as the screening of the movie El Greco, and a round table about the artist.

Saturday, April 5th at 2 pm
Screening of El Greco : Les ténèbres contre la lumière, Spain and Greece. Directed by Yannis Smaragdis. Screened in collaboration with the Cretans Association of Montreal.
Free admission. Maxwell-Cummings Auditorium.
Saturday, May 3rd at 2 pm
Film and round table on El Greco:
Screening of El Greco : Les ténèbres contre la lumière, Spain and Greece. Directed by Yannis Smaragdis.
Round table led by Anastassios Anastassiadis, Phrixos B. Papachristidis Chair in Modern Greek Studies (Classical Studies, Department of History, McGill University). Other participants: Professor Fernando Marías (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), Professor Andrew Casper (Miami University); Hilliard T. Goldfarb (Associate Chief Curator and Curator of Old Masters MBAM) and Professor Luís de Moura Sobral (Montreal University).
In French and English. Free admission. Maxwell-Cummings Auditorium.
