- Oscar is a night security guard at a semi-abandoned salt mine. He's 30 years old and lives alone. One day, his routine is broken. He goes to visit his grandfather, who has Alzheimer's, at his residence, only to find out that he took a turn for the worse and had to be taken to hospital. The manager tells him that she has informed his sister. Maria shows up two days later, with her boyfriend Jean in tow, a Frenchman Oscar knows nothing about. The brother-sister relationship seems strained. Something that happened in the past continues to haunt them. Maria would rather ignore it, but Oscar refuses to follow suit.
